THURSDAY IS LADIES DAY

The illustrious Oaks Day is truly a day celebrated by the ladies. The main event historically registered as the VRC Oaks, is run by a field of fillies (young female horses). The only race day to fall on a work day, the Victorian Racing Club introduced an initiative to attract female punters to Flemington back in the 1960’s. This established the highly publicised ‘Fashions on the Field’ national competition. Women adopt muted tones; pairing outfits with pastels and softer more feminine styles. Think soft flowing skirts or structured lace bodies. The Oaks Day is fast growing in popularity with males, subsequently men express relaxed and feminine selections through gentle hues, in their blazers, ties and even pocket squares.
With a selection of cashmeres, rosa terrazzo and velvets, we have the prettiest of furniture styles to help bring this aesthetic together.

The Kennedy Oaks Day takes place Thursday November 9 at Flemington Racecourse, Melbourne.
