Stakes Day is the fourth and final race day of the Melbourne Cup Carnival and takes on a relaxed, family day atmosphere, with a string of family-friendly activities on offer in addition to the main action on the track. Red roses are the official flower of the day, with the primary colour liberally displayed throughout Flemington. The day lends itself to more casual attire and styling; perhaps a skirt and tailored blouse for the ladies and for the gents opt for a cotton suit over a woollen selection. There are no set traditions pertaining to colour, however families are often spotted in complimentary colour ways or patterned outfits. Kids are encouraged to dress en pointe for the day too!

As for the set-up for Stakes Day festivities, we explore a more casual and informal Spring racing set up, through the use of café and lounge settings and textures such as wicker and perforated metals.

Emirates Stakes Day takes place Saturday November 11 at Flemington Racecourse, Melbourne.
