Who/what is The Big Group?
We are The Big Group. We are hospitalitarians extraordinaire. We have a big creative vision, a huge appetite for success and an outrageous passion for making people happy.
In simple terms we sell food, booze and people. We’re really big on making each of these elements perfect. But what motivates us is even bigger than that. As happiness hunters, we’re driven to create extraordinary experiences that help people appreciate, celebrate and remember significant moments in their lives.
You have recently rebranded which is really exciting. Can you tell us a bit more about the structure and purpose of your rebrand?
We haven’t spoken out loud about what we do and who we are over the last few years. The rebrand is a shout out to say we want to be recognised globally for constantly delivering a big creative vision, while never losing sight of the small details. We want to show that we continually push the boundaries and create hospitality experiences never imaged.

Tell us a little about one of your most memorable projects the team has worked on
Every so often a brave client comes along who isn’t afraid of doing something slightly mad.
On this occasion we wanted something completely unique to celebrate the wedding of a gorgeous New York couple. We missioned to find the most unusual space to host the event, looking at country homes, out of town galleries, and other venues far and wide – yet nothing felt quite right.

What are your favourite trends of the moment?
Our favourite trends incorporate an inventive experience that stimulates all the senses and captivates the imagination. Seasonal fresh, plump food to share on grazing plates with an abundance of fragrant herbs then overindulged with delectable sweet bites and entwined with perfumed blooms, colour and ambient lighting.
What colour palette are you loving?
Turquoise, indigo, moss green and soft hues of blush with a pop of yellow.
What can’t you get enough of right now?
Ten Tree – such an inspiring brand. For every item of clothing sold, they plant 10 trees. So far 9 million trees have been planted in 12 countries. The trees have helped to revitalise villages and surrounding eco environments and waterways. In the giddy world of parties and events it’s great to call out companies doing good things and keeping everything in perspective.

Food – The best on offer from local producers and markets.
Who or what inspires your team? Where does The Big Group look for inspiration?
We all love to travel and experience first-hand what is new and happening around the globe. When not on a plane jetting to a far off land we rely on Instagram, bloggers and influencers. We try to learn something new everyday and share with each other over lunch.
Where would you host your dream event?
We have a few big picture ideas up our sleeves. But we want to save them for another brave and daring client!
What do you do to get away from it all?
We spend time with our family and friends, we read, we listen, we touch and we try lots of fabulous new foods – all the while researching, learning, engaging, collaborating and sharing.
What are you reading and listening to?
Our team is unique and diverse but we all have a love for live Australian music. We are lucky to work together and team up with some amazing acts. Most recently we had the pleasure of hosting international duo Macklemore and Ryan Lewis at Luminare for the World Famous Rooftop Party; they brought an exceptional high-energy show that had the staff jumping!
